Monday, October 26th, 9:20pm

Had a good visit this evening. Very simple and quiet. I think he is really getting stable enough to be discharged to rehab very soon.

He is off the medicine to raise his blood pressure, and is doing very well. The cough is still an issue. Why has no doctor examined this to see what it is????

That's about it. I've been invited to a Halloween party this Friday. I think it will do me some good to get out a bit.

More tomorrow.

  2. Thank GOD someone thinks that its neurologic!!! This is the same cough he has had since the beginning.

He is fine if he is sitting still. But when he starts talking, or laughing, he coughs. The harder he laughs the harder the cough.

    OY!

  3. I GUESS IT WOULD WORRY ME MORE IF IT HAD GONE AWAY AFTER THE LAST STROKE, AND THEN STARTED BACK AGAIN WITH THIS HEADACHE...BUT YOU SAY HE HAS HAD IT ALL ALONG?

  4. Yea, he gets this cough every fall. Not a productive cough, just a wheezing cough. It is worse when he is talking, or anything where his breathing is accellerated (laughing, crying). And he can't catch his breath, and his face turns read, and he usually has to calm himself down for several minutes after really bad attacks.

  5. SOUNDS LIKE MAYBE ALLERGIES? I WONDER IF AN INHALER WOULD HELP...

  6. Yes, he had one last year for this very same cough. It was prescribed by Dr. Bernad. How do I get another one? Would a Primatine Mist (R) do anything?

  7. DON'T DO PRIMATINE MIST...IT IS FULL OF STIMULANTS, AND WILL DRIVE HIS BLOOD PRESSURE SKY HIGH. YOU COULD PROBABLY BRING IT UP TO THE NEUROLOGIST SINCE THAT WHO ADMITTED HIM, BUT IT'S KIND OF A FAMILY DOCTOR THING...YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SQUEEZE IT IN BEFORE HE GETS DISCHARGEED THOUGH.

  8. Got it. No Primatine.

I will talk to the DR tomorrow . . . I'll bet Dr. Bernad knows what he prescribed last year for this. I wonder if he will be cooperative . . .

    Thanks for your help!

  9. IT'S PRETTY MUCH A STANDARD INHALER...NEW NEUROLOGIST SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT WITHOUT OLD RECORD. GOOD LUCK, I'M SO GLAD TO SEE SO MANY POSTS IN A ROW WITH GOOD NEWS!
